The fellows graduate with technical proficiency in spinal decompression, spinal instrumentation (both free-hand and using navigation), and advanced spinal reconstruction techniques (PSO, VCR and multi-level corpectomies). Fellows are also trained in novel techniques such as minimally invasive spine surgery (OLLIF), lateral access surgery (lateral interbody fusion) and laminoplasty. In addition to the robust operative experience, fellows master comprehensive evaluation of the spine patient through mentored clinic experiences.

Fellowship Education

Each fellow we accept into the program enhance their education through twice-weekly morning spine conferences. These conferences as comprised of a variety of case discussions and research conferences. The second morning conference per week is dedicated to reviewing postoperative imaging from the previous week’s cases. This opens the floor for an open discussion of preoperative plans for upcoming cases. These meetings are invaluable in cultivating planning and decision making in the perioperative stage.
